A New Approach to Elevator Access Management
Sensor access is pleased to announce a new integration between its GuardPoint 10 access control platform and the KONE AK-API interface for Office Flow 1000. This integration introduces a modern approach to elevator access management, enabling a more streamlined and intelligent experience for building occupants while reducing complexity for system integrators and building operators.
Typical software elevator integrations rely on the access control platform to make the access decisions. In this model, a user presents a credential to a reader connected to the access control system, which then determines the floors the user is allowed to access and sends the appropriate floor permissions to the elevator control system.
The new integration between GuardPoint 10 and KONE’s Office Flow 1000 operates differently.
In this architecture, the KONE system stores and manages the access privileges and cardholder data directly within the elevator platform. When a credential is presented, the KONE system performs the access validation and determines which floors the user is permitted to access. This removes the need for the access control system to transmit floor permissions in real time, simplifying communication between systems and enabling a more autonomous elevator security environment.

The GuardPoint 10 and KONE Office Flow 1000 integration is available immediately and can be deployed in new installations or integrated into existing building environments where both platforms are in use. GuardPoint10 version1.160 is required.
